Nicholas Van Howe is a skilled Senior Engineering Manager with a passion for developing highly effective teams, conducting technology strategies, and delivering innovative solutions. Nicholas is a quick learner, superb communicator, and possesses great problem-solving skills, thriving in team environments. Currently, he is serving as a Global Markets Technology Summer Analyst at Bank of America, where he developed a web application using Ruby on Rails to manage configuration and patch deployment for a global markets Front/Middle Office J2EE derivatives trading application. He also led numerous technical demonstrations and discussions on the patching procedure with the application support team. In the past, Nicholas has worked as an Assistant Vice President, Software Engineer, Global Trading Technology Services at Bank of America. Here, he was a member of the Vienna/Advantage Trade Services team with ownership of trade services infrastructure for a global markets Front/Middle Office J2EE interest rate and credit derivative trading application named Vienna. He was responsible for the development and support of the Vienna Global Data Source (GDS) system and client libraries that facilitate hundreds of external clients making millions of requests per day accessing trade data in Vienna. He also designed and developed a new trade event framework (Using EJBs, JMS Queues, and Topics) which replaced the legacy event system resulting in a 10x performance improvement and increased throughput by 500% to downstream consumers of the event data. Nicholas has a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Michigan State University. He is proficient in Senior Software Engineering, Data Science, AI, Web, ML, and NoSQL. With his exceptional technical skills and leadership qualities, Nicholas is an asset to any organization.
